The Fun Sonnet

The Fun Sonnet

David Enyedy

Roses are red and the violets are blue,

I’m so tired of school and freedom none

These plain white walls chain me to my small room.

Seriously, when was the last good fun?

Roses are red and the violets are blue,

And my tired eyes are red from stress and strife

A long night ahead with so much to do

Lord, how the heck has this become my life?

Roses are red and the violets are blue,

Homework, homework, look what you’ve done to me!

I would rather die than have to do you,

Keep this up and soon you will truly see.

Blood is red and the dark bruises are blue

I am sick and tired of this… adieu.
