Going to Bed Versus Going to Sleep

Going to Bed Versus Going to Sleep

David Enyedy

When you’re going to bed each night, my dear,

I hope you mean you are going to sleep.

For you suffer in bed so much, it’s queer,

That you’d rather go to bed than count sheep.

To go to bed brings me thought of terror

As my harmful thoughts enter my mind’s state,

Counter these thoughts with my precious cellphone,

But as I rest my head, I’m more awake.

Ah, but to sleep! Essential for life,

In which you can rest and relax from time.

Free from worries, free from all of my strife,

And all that’s good is a dozen a dime.

As for tonight, I shall go off to bed

As homework determines when I rest head.
